Father we praise you because you are sovereign. Nothing escapes your eye and you are working all things together for good for those who love you. So many things you do happen in the unseen world but we also thank you for seeing your visible work in our lives and in the lives of our brothers.
You are omnipotent, dwelling among us and our friends in Mexico at the same time. And you are impartial, working in all people regardless of race, sex, age, or any other difference. We praise your holy Name!
Our day began with breakfast and a devotion by Clay who continued with his teaching of Hebrews 11:4. He urged us to be fearless in our generosity. He also said our vision moves at the pace of our generosity. Oh Lord, may we be generous with our money and ourselves. We closed in prayer covering every aspect of our day.
Work at Leona Vicario School went well with our delivery of the joist boards. All four walls are up and sided. Work on the roof began with all the joists installed. All the projects are now ready for Week 2 with the buildings framed (with siding) and joists installed.
After we had lunch we heard from a few men about their experience on the JOY tour. Oscar shared how his faith was stretched when he was asked to pray for others including those that are lost and remembering that he was once lost. So we go out to minister to others and God ministers to us at the same time!
We finished the first long leg of van travel and had dinner at Luby’s. The ride was a time of rest and refreshment with time for fellowship, too. We were able to meet with many missionaries including Rick Hall from Stepping Stones and David Burkett from Faith Mission Ministries from the Laredo area. Both men spoke to us and encouraged us as we were also able to encourage them. David taught from Exodus 14:14 to remind us to stay calm regardless of our circumstances.
Next, we traveled again, this time to our rooms for the rest of the week at Valley Baptist Retreat Center. This is our first time staying there as a group. The dorms are nice with only a few men to a dorm.
Finally, it’s time for bed although some will have to wait until after van duty and others for late night prayer.
Thank you Lord for watching over us at the job sites and protecting us on the long drive. You are gracious and full of mercy. Thank you for a great day.
