We got to sleep a little later this morning, and I didn’t hear ay snoring symphonies last night! The sleeping arrangement here at Faith Missions is about 15-25 guys each in a couple of large rooms with bunk beds. With the smaller group this year, nobody had to climb up on the top bunks, which was a blessing.
We had some sad news- Scott Anderson had to fly back home as his father was on his deathbed, but unfortunately he passed away while Scott was en route. Our prayers go out to Scott, Kristy & their family during their time of mourning.
After a time of worship songs with Cody, Dave & Bruce, Doug H. led us in a short study, highlighting verse 16 of John, chapter 15. Jesus, after telling his disciples to go and bear fruit, continues with the words: ‘….. that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.’ That is a very big statement. If we abide in Him, He will answer all our prayers.
We got across the bridge to Acuna without mishap, and the whole group except the cook crew and our fearless leaders drove to a new site. Casa Esperenza has been operating an orphanage in Acuna for the last 10 years. They were just gifted a piece of property that had been operating as a government orphanage, but had been shut down, and was in bad shape. They have completed the repairs and been open for several months, currently with 23 kiddos. POWER is building a new tool shed, an extra room for 15 bunk beds (including specially built bunk beds), plus removing & replacing the roof over a large porch area. We made good progress on all 3 projects today. To top it off, we spotted an ice cream shop as we left Acuna, and one of our members paid the tab for all of us, after a hard day’s work.
The cook crew prepared a delicious lunch and delivered it to the work site, then went back to Faith Missions in Del Rio and barbecued burgers & bratwursts with all the fixings. Ben Sullivan challenged us all to a March Madness pool as a fund raiser for POWER. It looks like a lot of us are taking the challenge. It was a very good day!
